Morecambe Pride: Everything you need to know

today3rd July 2024

Background

This year, the fifth Morecambe Pride event is set to take place on the 27th of July, bringing another vibrant celebration to the seaside town. This year’s theme, Things Can Only Get Better, showcases the unbreakable spirit of our community.

The festivities will begin at 11am, with the parade setting off from the Battery. The procession will continue down Morecambe Promenade and end in front of the Platform, where parade attendees are encouraged to enter, and the performances will begin.

Event Highlights

  • Parade: The parade will start at 11am from the Battery, featuring a diverse array of participants of all ages, dressed up brightly to show their Pride.
  • Main Stage Performances: Following the parade, the main stage at the Platform will host a lineup of exciting acts, including Ashley Paul in partnership with the Luv Foundation, Smashby, and Ross Alexander’s Blitz Kidz.
  • Stalls and Attractions: Attendees can explore a variety of stalls from local businesses and services, food and drink vendors for refreshments, and a small fun fair to entertain families and children.

As Morecambe Pride 2024 approaches, the need for community solidarity and support is greater than ever. Following last year’s events, Pride organisers LGBT Out in the Bay (OITB) are calling for allies to stand together in a show of unity and resilience.

Robert Mee, the organiser of Morecambe Pride, urges the community to rally together: ‘Last year’s incidents proved that Pride is absolutely needed. We need our allies to stand with us more than ever to show that hate will not win. Your support is essential in creating a safe and joyous celebration for everyone.
